What Is the NAATI CCL Test?

The NAATI Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test assesses your ability to interpret dialogues between English and a language of your choice. Passing the test earns you 5 bonus points toward your Australian Permanent Residency application under the skilled migration points test (visa subclasses 189, 190, and 491).

The test consists of two recorded dialogues of approximately 300 words each, covering real-world scenarios in areas such as healthcare, legal matters, immigration, and education. You listen to each segment and interpret it into the other language.

For a full breakdown of the test format, scoring and booking process, see the NAATI CCL test guide on the Lingo Copilot CCL site.

NAATI CCL questions, answered

What is the NAATI CCL test?

The NAATI Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test assesses your ability to interpret dialogues between English and another language. It consists of two recorded dialogues of roughly 300 words each, delivered in segments that you interpret into the other language. It is not a translation exam and it does not qualify you to work as a professional interpreter.

How many points is the NAATI CCL test worth for Australian PR?

Passing the NAATI CCL test earns 5 bonus points under the Australian skilled migration points test, for visa subclasses 189, 190 and 491. Those are credentialled community language points, awarded separately from the points you get for English proficiency, age, qualifications or work experience.

Which languages can I practise with Lingo Copilot CCL?

Lingo Copilot CCL supports 31 languages paired with English, including Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu and Swahili. The current, authoritative list lives on the product site's supported-languages page.

How does the AI mark my interpreting?

It marks the way NAATI examiners deduct: by accuracy error. The AI flags omissions (information you left out), additions (information you introduced) and distortions (meaning you changed), segment by segment, so you can see exactly where marks were lost. Scores are practice estimates — only NAATI issues an official result.

Can I practise NAATI CCL on my phone?

Yes. Lingo Copilot CCL is available as an Android app on Google Play and runs in any modern mobile browser with microphone access. Your practice history and scores follow your account across web and Android.
